Internship 2015

Internship Chronicles: Week 3

We solemnly swear we’re up to

no good.

It was really only a matter of time before a Harry Potter reference came along, honestly. But with a pretty huge chunk of the staff out of the office, we interns experienced a strange sense of freedom. Some would even say it was… magical (ba-dum-tss). Of course, there were people ensuring we weren’t cutting out at noon or doing crosswords at our desks, but we were in charge of keeping ourselves on task this week — not the easiest thing in the world to do.

No, we didn’t throw any parties while mom and dad were out of town. And maybe we weren’t thoroughly up to no good, but we did get a bit of a break from our usual routine. Which was kind of nice.

Let us work on client campaigns that must not be named (you know, because of NDAs)

So what did we do this past week?

Obviously we’re still working on our client’s assignments, but working on the exact same things Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 can get more than a little bit tedious. Since most of the staff that was in the office (read: not in California or Pennsylvania) found themselves down a few team members, our help was needed on a lot of different projects: copy editing an entire website, client calls for new projects, analytics reports, writing a proposal to help revitalize the 2e Instagram (#foreshadowing), and thinking through brochure designs.

Big picture takeaway is that it’s pretty fun to be able to get our minds off of our own client for at least a few hours each day. But it was a little stressful at points too — after all, real client work means real deadlines and high standards. Then again, we obviously made it through to the next week… so maybe we’re really getting there.
