Local Firm Keeps Expanding, Hires New Account ExecJamie Thurman joins up with the perfect creative teamST. LOUIS :: JUNE 2009 :: Marketing dynamo Jamie Thurman this month signed on as 2e Creative’s newest Account Executive, adding yet another dimension to the agency’s already superhuman account services team. The hire is one of many in recent months as the brand communications agency’s book of business continues to flourish, despite the slumping economy’s Vulcan nerve pinch on the industry.
In her position as Account Executive, Thurman will function as the primary liaison between 2e’s clients and their wildest marketing dreams.
A St. Louis native, Miss Thurman brings a unique set of experiences to 2e, from coaching soccer camps (Adidas stripes and shin guards make up her DNA) to her career’s beginnings in financial marketing. Jamie discovered her bent for marketing while attending Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, on a soccer scholarship. The epiphany came when her Intro to Advertising class was studying product placement.
“We were watching a scene from Dawson’s Creek, and one of the main characters buys a Diet Coke from a soda machine,” Jamie said. “And the way the can fell down just perfectly into the slot with the logo facing up just right ? I was blown away by the power branding can have over consumers, and I knew right then that I wanted to learn more about how it worked.”
She called it “soda.” Freak.
After wrangling a B.A. in Advertising and Marketing from Spring Hill, the talented and ambitious Thurman moved back to St. Louis, where she entertained positions in corporate marketing departments and gained some account executive experience at Brighton Marketing Agency in Clayton. Her practice life behind her, Jamie set her sights on 2e Creative, where she began incessantly bugging the agency’s Director of New Business, Larry Emerson.
“We emailed. We talked,” says Emerson. “And with the agency’s growing list of prospective clients, I knew Jamie’s skill set and no-guff attitude would be perfect for 2e.”
He said “guff.” Freak.
Besides soccer, Jamie divides her passions equally among yoga, photography and “Event Travel,” which she describes as “going different places to attend well-known events,” like Mardi Gras, the Kentucky Derby and Ribfest.
Us normal people call that a roadtrip.
